Advocacy

In keeping with our mandate to promote and advance the role of architecture and design in Toronto, the TSA commonly undertakes advocacy activities to express support or concern on topical issues effecting the built environment. The TSA acts as a unified voice on behalf of the profession at the local level and our members, and has been active in lobbying municipal and regional governments in the Greater Toronto Area.

Past advocacy activities have included participation on the City of Toronto’s Roundtable on a Beautiful City, involvement in the Nathan Phillips Square competition, the Modern Heritage Building Initiative to preserve the city’s modern buildings from demolition, and deputations regarding the Toronto Island Airport expansion, Drive-thru by-laws, and redevelopment of Union Station, to name a few.
